A Silk Bias Cut Maxi Dress

Made from the finest silk crepe back satin, this dress is perfect for that special occasion, with the fabric expertly fitted and altered to ensure a form-fitting masterpiece that is guaranteed to turn heads.

This sage silk crepe-back satin maxi dress is cut to pour over the skin like liquid mercury and drape to perfection.

Made as a mock sample based off one of my own silk crepe back satins to test a pattern for a dress I was making for the award winning TV show Peaky Blinders. A cowl neckline can not be altered once cut and I had a suspicion the designer was going to be wanting it lower than originally requested. The fabric was vintage and almost 100 years old with barely enough to cut two identical dresses from so mistakes could not be made. The sleeves are an ivory satin organza of the highest quality with a very simple slimline cut. The cuffs are bound in the sage silk crepe back satin. The centre back has a slash to just above the waistline with the fastenings being chainstitch loops around each tiny red rosebud metal button.
